I seas this mentioned on Twitter and asked Charles if this group might be interested. I attend New Covenant Fellowship (which is in the former a Moose lodge )downtown Champaign (currently hosts daily Bread Soup Kitchen just as a locator). We have a large room with projection capabilities as well and have already talked about using it as a location for a social justice film series. The advantage is that the church will likely not charge anything as a co-sponsor and there is easily room for 100+.

I contacted the film and they seem eager to work with people so it is mostly an issue of promotions. I too would like to see the film before we make a big deal about it but at the same time, I don't have to endorse every not and tittle to support showing it. If it has been screened at Sundance I think it is a worthy idea to show it and all learn together.

Thanks,
Chuck

This is great!  I'm all in for helping with promotion and organization.  The quantity and quality of the discussion after the screening is going to depend on the audience, so I want to really make sure we cultivate that.
Thanks,
Todd

I like the idea of going to the art theater first to see if they would collaborate with us and agree that the conversation around the big issues in education is the main goal!

Yes, and I’m sure we could get other organizations to chip in too…should not be hard to pay for it and find a location…just takes someone to organize it!

Why not approach the Art Theater on the basis that this is an educational opportunity for the community for a showing.

Yes, it does look good.  Charles are you offering to host a screening?  It is only $350.

In all seriousness, I would be up for trying to put together a screening as a CTRL-Shift project...mainly because I need something else to do right now ;)

It would seem to be a perfect thing to end EdCampCU with, but that is coming up in just a few weeks.

Thoughts?

Any interest in the "Most likely to succeed" movie/documentary? Ted Dintersmith is at the helm, so it certainly has my attention.
