Good afternoon, PTA Council Members:

This is VERY short notice, but I am seeking several parents to participate in a small focus group tomorrow evening (6-8pm on Wednesday, June 3) at the University of Illinois iSTEM Office. Dinner will be provided. Details are listed below. If you can spare a few hours of your time tomorrow, please reply directly to me at csmcarthur AT gmail.com or call/text me at 217-637-0968 by noon on 6/3/15.

 

If you cannot make it, but know another Unit 4 parent who can, please feel free to forward my message. Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

ILLINOIS P-20 COUNCIL FOCUS GROUP:

A University research team led by Dr. Lizanne DeStefano has been tasked by the Implementation Review Committee of the Illinois P-20 council to organize focus groups across the state to solicit feedback from educators, parents, and community members on the implementation of 4 statewide education initiatives. These initiatives are:

• Student learning standards - What are students learning
• Student assessments - How are students tested and why
• Longitudinal data - Collection and use of student and educator data
• Educator performance evaluations - How are teachers and principals evaluated

The goal is to provide this feedback to the P-20 Council and state policymakers to inform decision making including resources allocation, development of trainings as well as communications and outreach.
