An hour of code: #UDLchat, December 7, 2016

The Hour of Code is intended to be a launching point to more Computer Science (CS) opportunities for all learners. This week, millions of students, including those with disabilities and those traditionally marginalized, will have Hour of Code experiences as part of Computer Science Education Week (Dec. 5-11; https://csedweek.org/). This is part of a national CS for All movement. https://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2016/01/30/computer-science-all

This week Dr. Maya Israel is joining us! Maya is an expert looking at meaningful access to computational thinking and computer programming as well as STEM for All students. In addition she studies instructional approaches, including UDL, to help students become more successful learners.

Possible Questions:

Warm up question: How have you seen and Hour of Code happening this week?

Q1: Within Computer Science for All do we think All really does mean all?

Q2: How do we see disability as part of the Computer Science for All movement?

Q3: How can UDL support computing?

Q4: What is a possible down side of the movement?
