Recommendations Here is a summary of the recommendations presented Tuesday by a committee to the Governor's STEM Advisory Council: · Phase in a computer science endorsement that can be "obtained in a flexible manner" for those that would teach coursework. · Require the successful completion of computer science coursework to graduate high school. · Provide incentives for K-12 schools to integrate computer science curriculum. Make sure the schools have enough staffing and technology resources to teach the courses. · Make sure computer science curricula remain timely and responsive to industry needs. · Allow computer science professionals to serve as mentors for teachers, students and others. · Create a central database for computer science learning resources, such as curricula and study programs. · Market and publicize computer science professions and job information.
