Martin,
It's quite intriguing. I wonder if it is somewhat align to brain friendly space on blended learning movement.
Please check this site out. It has sample of different classroom settings that might align to what you are proposing or something to think about. =)

Subject: Re: [Ctrl-Shift] New Class: Informal Learning Spaces and Pedagogies
I'm very excited to share that my new course proposal, "Informal Learning Spaces and Pedagogies", LIS490IL, has been approved and has been scheduled for fall, 2015. We'll meet Wednesdays 1-3:50 in room 341 of the LIS Building. The course description is as follows:
This course will explore the design of space and pedagogy for informal learning in libraries, museums, and other public and private collaborative spaces. We will investigate together a variety of informal learning spaces such as information and learning commons, learning labs, and Makerspaces to understand the impact environment has on learning, and will review key literature concerning informal learning pedagogy and critical sociotechnical perspectives on technology and society. We will also consider qualitative and quantitative evaluation strategies for measuring output and impact of design of space and programming for informal learning in libraries, museums, and other public venues.
The draft syllabus for the course is now posted to my blog at:
https://mwolske.wordpress.com/2015/04/10/new-class-informal-learning-spaces-and-pedagogies/
An article that came out in this month's Journal for Education in Library and Information Science authored by Kyungwon Koh and June Abbas describes a range of "Competencies for Information Professionals in Learning Labs and Makerspaces." I think this new class will be a strong complement to my other fall class, LIS451, "Introduction to Network Systems" (Tuesday mornings 9-11:50), to help foster many of these competencies.
Please feel encouraged to not only sign up for the class yourself, but also to distribute this announcement widely with anyone you think may have interest in the class. The class is open to all graduate students and upper-level undergraduates in or out of GSLIS.
Thanks!
— Martin
