Friends,

It’s election day. Please vote. As we all know, there is the school board slate and also the mayor in Champaign. In Urbana, it’s the park board. Also, the Parkland board in both towns.

This evening, let’s gather at the Quality Bar at 110 N. Neil. It’s at the corner of Neil and East Chester. If it’s not raining, we can sit outside, otherwise the Quality is rather spacious and we will find a table inside. For this evening, it will be good to celebrate the work of our founding organizer, Kerris Lee. It was almost 3 years ago, the end of May 2012, that Kerris brought the new administration at Unit 4 together with business people and some of us at MSTE to begin this adventure in computational thinking in the schools. Much has happened in those less-than-three years: pilots in the middle schools, the focus on Kenwood, the CTRL-shift meetings, presentations by teachers and, most important, by students, proposals, conferences, our expanding discussions and growing visibility. It has been and continues to be a joyous and thought-provoking adventure. We should raise a special toast to Kerris tonight in gratitude for all he has put into CTRL-Shift.

George
