In all honesty Charles, I already anticipated you getting elementary certification in the next few years ;)

You know, if you keep talking like this, you are going to make me want to quit my current job and start working over there....

Charles,

The focus of this grant is not necessarily on CT/CS, but general capacity building around  sustained conversations that are at least partly led by students.  These conversations/projects and the associated PD might be on any subject, as long as they allow for  "young people to engage in production-centered, interest-driven learning".  Could be CT/CS, but doesn't have to be.  Its really about changing how "school is done".

To accomplish this, we are going to build on EdCampCU that Katrina Kennett already has in the works for this coming January at the College of Ed.  What is an ed camp?  See here.<http://edcamp.org/what-is-edcamp/>  At that ed camp, participants (teachers from anywhere, admins, citizens, college students, etc.) will form interest groups to explore a particular idea or concept.  They will then take what they have learned back to their classroom and begin integrating it into their practice. Over the course of the following year their will be three more events.  At each of the three subsequent meetings,  groups will reform, re-examine and remix based on experiences, interests and new ideas.  Teachers who participate in these three events will be asked to bring students to help facilitate discussions based on their own experiences in the classroom.

Through sustained conversations, collaboration and creation, teachers and students will begin the process of changing how they "do school" so that they are engaged in more production-centered, interest-driven learning? as stated in the grant.

That's the big idea...now we just have to write the small stuff by 10/14.

For discussion tonight.

Todd, Jessica and others at Kenwood are working on the LRNG Innovation Challenge Grant.
I hope they'll share their progress on that.
